O Desempenho das Exportações Gaúchas em 2012

RESUMO
O presente trabalho busca elucidar o desempenho das exportações do Rio Grande do Sul durante o ano de 2012. Historicamente o RS é um dos principais estados exportadores do Brasil com uma importante relevância, tanto pelas vendas externas da indústria de transformação quanto da agricultura e pecuária. O ano de 2012 foi atípico, com o setor exportador gaúcho enfrentando diversas dificuldades simultaneamente, que reduziram as vendas externas sobremaneira. Pode-se resumir o desempenho em 2012 em quatro vértices que, conjuntamente, foram responsáveis pela queda das exportações gaúchas e que também explicam a queda superior à média nacional: (i) a estiagem ocorrida em 2012, (ii) as dificuldades que surgiram nas exportações destinadas à Argentina, (iii) o embargo russo à carne gaúcha, (iv) a queda na demanda internacional devido ao ritmo econômico global desaquecido.

ABSTRACT
The current paper seeks to understand the performance of the exports of the Rio Grande do Sul (RS) in 2012. Historically the RS is one of the main exporter states in Brazil, both in agricultural products and in the manufacture industry. The 2012 year was unusual, with the export sector facing very diverse obstacles simultaneously, which had an important impact on the external sales. The 2012 performance of the external sector can be explained by four factors that together were responsible for the decrease in the RS exports and also explain why the performance was worse than the national average: (i) the drought that reduced soy crops in 2012, (ii) the Argentinian barriers to imports, (iii) the Russian embargo to the exports of meat of the Rio Grande do Sul, (iv) the fall of the international demand for products due to the reduction in the global economic rhythm.
