The emergence of participatory public policies highlighted the necessity to provide the basic knowledge for citizenship. In this context arises the discussion about the education for minorities, and the rural population receives special attention. This rural population started to be observed by the government to be included in the agenda of public policies, mainly due the movement "For a Rural Education" that started in 1990 and is been strengthened. As a result, over the year 2000, there were several changes in legislation and new policies were developed to meet rural education requirements. This study aimed to relate evolution of the the Brazilian public management models and educational policies with those of the Rural Education in Brazil. It was done a systematic review of social public policies in Brazil and the scenario of Rural Education. It was found that in recent years, social public policy has undergone though transformations and the inclusion of Rural Education in the government agenda is impacting positively in the educational context.Downloads
