Política econômica e crescimento no Brasil de Lula

Abstract

The relationship connecting economic policy and economic growth is analyzed. Its shape was defined in the first Lula’s Administration. The beginning of his first mandate was characterized by mini cycles of slow growth. In contrast, since 2005 started an apparent era of sustained economic expansion. Reasons of this performance are considered and its contribution to Brazilian economic development is valued. Specifically, the effects of government action on the main sources of growth are dealt with in the light of theoretical and empirical evidences. In this way, a counterpoint between neoclassical orthodoxy and the point of view of Political Economy is focused. Key words: brazilian economy; economic policy; growth.
