Crisis, recuperación y depués... algunas claves para entender las oscilaciones cíclicas de la economía argentina en las dos últimas décadas

Abstract

Economic policy, growth and recurrent crisis in Argentina in the last two decades are viewed under a structural perspective. Two key elements enacting in opposed directions are identified as the main causes of the wide range of economic performance. They are the fiscal issue and the external issue. The search for external equilibrium caused public deficits that were only reverted by means of trade balance deterioration. Economic policies chosen in this period are pointed as the core reasons explaining the endurance of this two restrictions along time. Notwithstanding there was an impressive recovery recently, these structural problems were not completely overwhelmed. Key words: Argentina; economic policy; fiscal and external crisis.
