Potencial poluidor da indústria no RS: dimensionamento e espacialização do risco

Abstract

In this article, we analyze the pollution potential risk of industry in the State of Rio Grande do Sul – Brasil, taking into account the relevance of this sector amidst the State economy, 2002-2006. As assumption, we use the notion of environmental risk, understood as the pollution potential related to air and water conditions and solid waste disposal, through its dimension and spatial location in the State territory. The paper is aimed to contribute to the implementation of public environmental policies, offering indicators which may orientate preventive actions concerning the risk represented by activities of higher pollution potential.
