Importações e exportações brasileiras da cadeia produtiva da madeira — 2000-07

Abstract

This paper analyses the trade of the Brazilian wood productive chain according to its three main branches: wood, woodworking machinery and wood furniture. The statistical data of import and export, concerning the 2000-2006 period, were gathered from Siscomex. The main origin and destiny countries of each branch was identified. In such a period the chain exports rose vis-à-vis the imports. The main destiny countries of the Brazilian exports were the USA, United Kingdom, China, France and Belgium. In the case of the woodworking machinery it was identified a deficitary declining tendency in the trade balance during the period. The Brazilian imports of woodworking machinery came specially from Germany, Italy, Finland, USA and Sweden. The furniture branch is the most dynamic of them, where exports exceeded imports all over the period. The main furniture importers from Brazil were the USA, France, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Germany.
