Desigualdade salarial na Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre: o que ocorreu durante a crise econômica?

Resumo

Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar, de forma sucinta, a desigualdade salarial na Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre, durante a crise econômica, em 2015 e 2016. A desigualdade salarial é analisada em termos agregados, por setores de atividade econômica e por categorias de emprego. O artigo mostra que ocorreu uma inequívoca redução da desigualdade salarial agregada durante a crise econômica. Em nível setorial, a queda da desigualdade salarial foi circunscrita aos serviços e à indústria de transformação. Quanto às categorias de emprego, a tendência geral foi de redução da desigualdade salarial. A decomposição do índice de Theil revelou que o recorte das categorias de emprego tem mais capacidade de explicação da desigualdade salarial agregada, uma vez que seu componente intercategorias tem maior peso relativo, comparativamente ao intersetores, no período que foi objeto de investigação.

Wage inequality in the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre: what happened during the economic crisis?

Abstract

This article aims to briefly analyze wage inequality in the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre, during the economic crisis, in 2015 and 2016. Wage inequality is analyzed in aggregate terms, by sectors of economic activity and employment categories. The article shows that there was an unequivocal reduction of the aggregate wage inequality during the economic crisis. At the sectoral level, the fall in wage inequality was circumscribed to services and manufacturing industry. As for the employment categories, the general trend was of wage inequality reduction. The decomposition of the Theil index revealed that employment categories have a greater capacity to explain aggregate wage inequality, since the between-categories component in it has a greater relative weight, in comparison with the between-sectors one, in the period that was the object of investigation.
