Evolução da tarifa de ônibus e do custo do transporte individual em Porto Alegre

Resumo

A forma de se deslocar pelas cidades brasileiras alterou-se ao longo do tempo, e uma das principais mudanças nas últimas duas décadas foi o grande aumento no número de carros e motocicletas. Em contrapartida, houve uma considerável redução no número de passageiros do transporte público. O resultado foi o crescimento dos congestionamentos e o aumento do tempo médio de deslocamento. Este artigo apresenta a evolução do preço dos diferentes modais de transporte, um dos motivos dessa mudança. Enquanto o custo do transporte individual motorizado apresentou uma tendência de queda, a passagem de ônibus teve sucessivos aumentos acima da inflação. Será discutido o caso de Porto Alegre, embora o mesmo fenômeno tenha ocorrido na maioria das cidades brasileiras.

Evolution of the bus fare and the cost of individual transportation in Porto Alegre

Abstract

The way of moving in the Brazilian cities has changed over time and one of the major changes in the last two decades was the increasing number of cars and motorcycles. By contrast, there was a reduction in the number of public transport passengers. The result was the growth of traffic congestion and the increase in the commuting time. This paper presents the evolution of the prices of different modes of transport, one of the reasons of this change. While the cost of individual motorized transport showed a downward trend, the bus fare increased above inflation. The case of Porto Alegre will be discussed, although the same phenomenon has occurred in most Brazilian cities.
