Resumo

This paper comparis Keynes' ideas about foreign questions in Economics, which
were elaborated in "Proposals for an International Clearing Union" in the early 1940s,
with "Keynesian" models for an open economy, which are discussed in text-books of
Macroeconomics. In the first part, it formalizes the "Keynesian" models t o explain the
internai and externai equitibria. In the second part, it shows the Keynesian thought
at)out exchange rate, commercial policy and intemational currency, among others. The
paper concludes that the "Keynesian" models about intemational questions do not
represent the Keynesian ideas established during that proposal.
