Abstract
During the 70s many authors, especially economists and sociologists, were mainly concerned about analyzing the intervention of the State in the Brazilian economy. Some considered this interference an excessive state participation. Others y worried about first explaining the reasons for state intervention and came to the conclusion that the qualitative aspect, or the type of interference, was more important than the quantitative position which only evaluates the degree of state participation.
The aim of this essay, as expressed in its title, is to restudy the bibliography of the State as well as of the economy in Brazil and discuss its most important ideas. The first part analyzes the more debatable texts as the ones written by BAE R, REZENDE DA SILVA, VILLELA and SUZIGAN. The second half examines the writings that contain a more realistic interpretation such as the texts written by FERNANDES, OLIVEIRA, CARDOSO DE MELLO, BELLUZZO, CONCEIÇÃO TAVARES and F .H. CARDOSO.
The main items discussed in this survey are the causes of state intervention in economy, the nature and limits of the state and the kind of mediation between economy and politics.
