Condicionantes externos à política agrícola

Resumo

The recent transformations that occurred in the Brazilian economic policy -
including the agricultural policy - had as a background the country's need to insert
itself in the new international economic scenery. The negotiations that took place
in the external front, particularly the recently concluded GATT's Uruguai Round
and the conformation of MERCOSUL, design a new frame of reference for the
formulation of policies. The present article analyzes these new external constraints
from the point of view of Brazilian agricultural policy, as well as their compatibility
with the guidelines that are being adopted to formulate it.
