Considerações sobre características e peculiaridades da industrialização no Rio Grande do Sul

Resumo

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the characteristics and pecularities of
manufacturing industry and the industrialization process at Rio Grande do Sul
State. Structural and evolutive aspects are examined using extensively structural
comparisons with national and sometimes international and other brazilian states
performance. Special reference is given to the period 1959-80, that covers the well
know intensive growth of brazilian industry. Precedent deeper studies that have
been carried out by the author are the main information basis used in the paper.
Attention is focused on the following subjects: dynamics of industrial growth,
structural change patterns, specialization indicated by location quotient, evolution
and pecularities according to the use categories, employment generation and labour
productivity.
