Envelhecimento e inserção do idoso no mercado de trabalho, na Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre

Abstract

O processo de envelhecimento da população brasileira vem ocorrendo intensamente nos últimos anos, em conse-quência da dinâmica demográfica, a qual afetou profundamente a composição etária da População Economica-mente Ativa (PEA). De fato, observou-se o aumento da proporção de pessoas maduras, em especial aquelas com 60 anos e mais, enquanto reduziu-se a proporção de jovens com até 24 anos. Essa nova configuração representa grandes desafios às políticas públicas e sociais. O presente estudo tem como objetivo conhecer e avaliar a situação do contingente idoso na Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre (RMPA) no que diz respeito às condições de trabalho e de renda. A análise utiliza-se do recorte por sexo, tendo em vista não só a feminização da velhice, como também a existência de discriminação de gênero nesse contingente. São tomadas como base as informações coletadas pela Pesquisa de Emprego e Desemprego na Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre (PED-RMPA) no período 1993-2014. This new configuration has great challenges to public and social policies. This study aims to get to know and assess the situation of the elderly population in the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre (RMPA) with regard to employment conditions and earnings. The analysis draws on the segmentation by sex, taking into account not only the feminization of old age, but also the existence of gender discrimination in this contingent. The article is based on the information collected by the Employment and Unemployment Survey in the RMPA (PED-RMPA), in the period 1993-2014.
