Rio Grande do Sul public finances performance in 2012

Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the performance of the public finances of the state of Rio Grande do Sul during 2012, when several measures were done to increase revenues and rationalize expenditures. It is concluded that even though these measures have been important, it was a very difficult year. The ICMS had not a good performance, the expenditures increased a lot and the year closed with a very expressive deficit of R$ 774 million. Key words: Public finances in Rio Grande do Sul; ICMS
