A view on the current housing policy in Brazil
Abstract
ABSTRACT In 2009, in the beginning of Lula government, a new period took place in the federal policy for housing. A profound transformation occurs, with investments going from R$ 7 billions, in 2002, to more than R$ 62 billions, in 2009. The income band between zero and three minimum wages, that concentrated the biggest housing deficit , led the government to create the program called My House My Life, that allocated the most part of the resources to this band in 2009. This program brought for a strong expansion in real estate credit in Brazil in the last years. Key Words Housing; housing credit; My House My Life program.
