Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper analyses the results of the Socioeconomic Development Index of Rio Grande do Sul (Idese) for 2009. These results are analyzed jointly with data regarding extreme poverty in the state - based on the demographic census of 2010. Using cluster analysis, it is noted that there are three areas in the state where high levels of extreme poverty and smaller Ideses (not only total indexes but also its individual dimensions) are verified at the same time: one in the south, one in middle and one in the far north. Key words Idese, extreme poverty, clusters. Artigo recebido em jul. 2012
