Formal labor market evolution path in Porto Alegre Metropolitan Area in the 1999-2011 period

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article analyses the formal labor market in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre RMPA, in the new century. For the purposes of this article, the work is composed of two parts and an introduction. First, it presents an overview of the evolution and dynamics of the labor market in the RMPA using statistical data of the Employment and Unemployment Survey in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre-PED-RMPA, trying to capture the positive effects of economic growth on the ability to create jobs in the RMPA, in the 1999-2011 period. The second concerns with the type of occupation that is being generated as a result of economic growth, that is, what is the quality of the new jobs created during that period.
