Abstract

This paper analyzes international patterns of trade considering the technological intensity of exports and the evolution of market-shares in global markets. We use Pavitt (1984) taxonomy in order to answer the following question: has Brazilian economy been experiencing a more intense process of re-primarization of its exports than global average? Our evidences suggest that commodities have had an increased share in total world exports. Nevertheless, Brazil could be classified among economies with a more intense process of re-primarization. We explore some policy implications of our conclusions. Key words: Manufacturing sector; technological intensity of exports; Brazil. Artigo recebido em 21 set. 2011.
