Uma análise sobre a influência das redes sociais na concessão de crédito bancário

ABSTRACT From a theoretical review on social capital literature, this paper investigates the influence of social networks on the credit analysis for bank loans. To do so this study interviews managers of sixteen bank branches. The results show that, even though the managers believe that the statistic tools and database offered by the bank system are very useful, they both widely use their personal knowledge about people who ask for loans as additional information and – most of them – believe that using information coming from social network is often more efficient than using formal tools of analysis. As a consequence, managers in small cities frequently have more information from social network about their clients, which, according to them, improves the efficiency of the process of loan conceding.
