A economia global e a crise da dívida soberana na União Europeia: a situação de Portugal e Espanha

Abstract

If one year ago there were discussions and more or less clear signs showing that the neoliberal economic model—the global economy model—was collapsing, nowadays a new face of the model is emerging. Present times show in a more explicit and brutal way that it is the financial markets that determine government’s policies. After currencies, raw materials, food products and bank credit defaults, sovereign bonds, one by one, became the new target for speculation attacks, resulting in what is called sovereign debt crisis. European Union is an example and more expressively the southern European countries like Portugal and Spain, about which some details are going to be discussed.
