Keywords:
relações de trabalho, sindicatos, sociologia do trabalhoAbstract
The author uses PNAD-IBGE data for 1992-2006 to examine the evolution of union membership and union density per gender in Rio Grande do Sul and Brazil. He identifies regional peculiarities, and demarcates phases of crisis and revival of unionism. He concludes that the expressive growth of union membership and density indicates that Brazilian unions were successful in adapting to the changes in the economic and political broader environment of the last decades.Downloads
