Abstract

The decade of 1990 was permeated by studies that linked the investments in research and development (R&D) and the competitiveness of the developed countries. These indicated that there was a direct relationship between the technological domain and the generation of competitive advantages in the international market. In Brazil, studies accomplished in the decade of 1990 indicated as competitive challenge of the national industry the passing of the technological dependence, presupposing increments in the public and private investments in R&D. Like this the objective of this work is to verify how the national scenario is concerning this subject and to verify this new scenery keeps relationship with the competitive insert of the national products in the international market evidenced by the expansion of the exports in the years 2000
