Perspectivas de transformações estruturais na economia da Metade Sul do Estado

Abstract

The study from which this article bares its origins had, at first, the purpose of verifying whether there had been expansion in temporary crop in the southern part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul and, if so, its implications on cattle breeding. During the course of the original study, surprising news about the arrival of big national as well as international cellulose-paper and meat packing companies were disclosed. That led to an expansion of the aims of this present paper. An economic forecast has therefore been constructed in the form of a prospective essay which aims at predicting the future of this particular economy. Thus, the present paper will take the new set of changes in course into account.
