- This article's main purpose is to analyse Adam Smith's thought about the land rate economic category. The introduction presents a retrospect on the land rent concepts developed by authors prior to him. In section one we situate "The Wealth of Nations" among the author's works, and show how its particular organizational form affects the explanations of its concept changes along the book. In section two we analyze the concept "land rent" face the value theory developed by Adam Smith. Section three presents a detailed and accurate study of the specific chapter refering the analysis made by Adam Smith on this economic category. It is divided in three subitems, respecting the explanatory sequence followed by Adam Smith. In the concluding remarks we refer the changes suffered by the land rent concepts along
