Resumen
The article concerns the recent debate about Marx's concept of money, involving two opposite interpretations of his theory. One of these interpretations affirms that Marx's concept of money is necessarily connected with a money-commodity, and also that this connection doesn't mean a rejection of the theory to understand contemporary events. On the other side, the second interpretation considers money as an abstract concept, which is historically manifested by different and specific kinds of money-commodities, but it doesn't get mixed up with them. The article attempts to structure the points at issue around three central aspects: methodological, theoretical and historical, trying to clarify the source of the disagreement between the two interpretations.
