Estrutura e gargalos da economia gaúcha: uma análise a partir da MIP-RS/98 e da PIA-2000

- Abstract In this paper we intend to construct a profile of Rio Grande do Sul State’s economics structure and bottlenecks that limit the state income flow from data made available by the Industrial Annual Research 2000 carried out by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) and the Input-Product Matrix 1998 performed by FEE (State Foundation of Economics and Statistics) in 2002. We came to the conclusion that the state economics presents two significant bottlenecks. The first one is the absence of an adequate system of services for the regional production participation enlargement in the national and international markets. The second one is the low investment multiplier, which stems from the low integration before the more dynamic productive networks of Rio Grande do Sul State’s economics. Following we tried to identify appropriate public policies for the enlargement of such bottlenecks within the present fiscal and financial circumscriptions of the state and federal governments.
