- Abstract
- ABSTRACT Several studies have set that the environmental standard of the Brazilian industrial exports is intensive high pollution potential sectors. However, countries and economic blocs have different environmental laws, suggesting a difference in the pattern of environmental specialization on Brazilian foreign trade according to the trade areas. This article intends to verify if this difference exists or not. It was confirmed that the Brazilian industrial imports from Latin America, European Union, United States and Developed Countries have a higher pollution potential than the exports for the same regions, and that the pattern presented in previous blocks is reversed for China, that imports mainly iron ore from Brazil. In conclusion, environmental regulation and management are necessary for Brazilian mining companies, in the sense that China's growth will be not at expenses of environmental degradation in Brazil.
