Clusters of municipalities in rio grande do sul, based on data from census of agricultural (2006) and population (2010)

Abstract
ABSTRACT In 2001, the cities in the state of Rio Grande do Sul were characterized and grouped into five clusters, using Census data for 1995/1996 and the population count in 1996. A decade later, this article raises a new and updated typology of the 496 municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul, using Census data for 2006 (CA2006), for agricultural establishment (EA), and the Population Census of 2010 (CD2010 ) for rural areas. Based on census data, we calculated thirty simple indicators. Then the factor scores were used for cluster analysis. Finally, five clusters were identified in "agricultural" and six clusters in "demographic" which, placed simultaneously, demonstrate the heterogeneity between groups (clusters) of cities in the state.
