Abstract: This paper presents a survey of literature about the issue of international trade and environment based on Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models. The applications examined show that they are concentrated on two subjects: those which evaluate the impacts on environment caused by trade policies, and those which seek to estimate the economic effects originated from the implementation of environmental policies stemming from of the internalization of environment impacts. This issue has been studied worldwide, however it still needs more empirical investigation, since the results found in the literature are controversial. In Brazil, however, the issue has not been sufficiently explored.
