- Abstract
- The objective of this article is to present the main characteristics of Universal Darwinism discussing its role as a methodological and analytical instrument to the development of an evolutionary theory in economics. Besides, we intend to discuss some of the criticisms raised by researchers that identify this conception as another biological analogy. In the second item, we present the debate about the use of biological analogies in economics. The third item is dedicated to point the main characteristics of Universal Darwinism, as well as addressing how an evolutionary theory could benefit of its use. The fourth topic presents one of the branches of the recent debate about the potentialities and limits of Universal Darwinism, followed by the conclusions.
