- Abstract
- The present work argues in favor of a point of view that the propositions developed by Fernando Henrique Cardoso since the end of the 60s regarding the "new form" of Latin American dependency can be considered as the first relevant critique of some dependentist theories. The criticism is directed towards imperialist theories linked to Bukharin and Baran and to ECLA´s proposition about the specific character of Latin American capitalist development. Other than this, we have tried to show that Cardoso´s approach brings out a particular theoretical recovery of Lenin´s theory of imperialism. This theory has been exposed to an enormous academic debate which was solved through a Ricardo-Schumpeter analysis about capitalist investment, where there is no distributive and demand consideration regarding the process of accumulation in the periphery. This kind of approach opens space for a Liberal development project based on the straight link between economies from the periphery and the internacional capital.
