Resumo

This paper tries to emphasize the importance of Locke for the comprehension of the economic science process of emancipation. Placing the author into the connection among jusnaturalism, liberalism and mercantilism, we believe to find in his work, in the particular attention given to the relation between politics and economics, a special moment to comprehend some important aspects of the origin of economics as a science.
