Medidas de núcleo de inflação para a Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre

Abstract

This article intends to apply the principal concepts of core inflation used by Central Bank of Brazil to manage the inflation targeting system in order to analyse the behavior of the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre (RMPA) from 1999 to 2003. The main result is that the core inflation measures can be considered like a proxy to the tendency of the prices level in the RMPA.
