Resumen

Ali societies make up for themselves a system of ideas and images, of collective representation through which they grant to themselves an identity, legitimate values, rule behaviors and establish a certain degree of social cohesion. The " gaúcha " society is a good example of such representation, originated from real data of the objective reality, from utopias and wishes that belong to the collective unconscious and from deliberate intentions of manipulations. The result is the formation of a social imaginary that presents itself as "the other side of the real", being sometimes more enticing and attractive than the concrete reality itself.
