This article revises the recent literature about Rio Grande do Sul's industry growth, showing the linkage between the different studies through the evolution of the debate concerning its m a i n themes. In this respect, it uses t h e notion o f analysis' paradigms of the Rio Grande do Sul's economy, evidencing the change in the interpretations regarding its relantionship w i t h the brasilian economy.
