Estatísticas domiciliares e políticas públicas: uma discussão sobre os conceitos de família e domicílio

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to debate theoretical definitions of family and household and their application in empirical surveys. We discuss theoretical models about household behavior and we present some brazilian empirical surveys that ilustrate different approaches to the behavior of families and households. The paper stresses the importance of this discussion to pubic policies.
