Abstract

The article analyzes the recent economic development of the United States, interpreting the technological innovations as fundamental to explain the process. These would have generated an acceleration of the productivity gains and produced an elevation of the average profit rate, inducing investments in new sectors and enlarging them in already existent sectors, besides they be disseminated from way to produce strong macroeconomic impacts. Finally, the paper analyzes the current economic recession, discussing the reversion and continuity possibilities of the previous ascending economic tendency.
