A dimensão local e os arranjos produtivos locais: conceituções e implicações em termos de políticas de desenvolvimento industrial e tecnológico

Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss the literature contributions about the importance of the territorial dimensions in a scenario of competition in global markets. It is justified on the basis that all arrangements and productive systems consist of relevant interactive learning spaces in which their particular characteristics allow the existing communication channels to facilitate the diffusion of knowledge, thus allowing companies located within to obtain advantages concerned with innovative performance. In this way, geographical closeness not only creates private institutional and cultural conditions but also allows exchange of knowledge — especially tacit knowledge, among agents. To carry out this objective the article is divided in six sections.
