Atraso tecnológico e atraso social: um modelo introdutório para investigar as relações entre as produções científica e tecnológica e o desenvolvimento humano no Brasil

Abstract

This article evaluates the relationship between scientific and technological production and the degree of human development in Brazil, on a municipal level. The variables used can be divided into seven groups: human development index, urban infrastructure, cultural infrastructure, incentives policies, education, health and scientific technological production. This paper suggests a Negative Binomial Hurdle model. The results show a strong relationship between cultural infrastructure and scientific and technological production. The results also show that the scientific and technological production is associated both with indices of human development and with indices of poverty.
