Dinâmica de crescimento da indústria de transformação do Rio Grande do Sul: verificação de algumas hipóteses convencionais para o periódo 1985-02

Abstract

The article brings about an original contribution to the investigation of the growth dynamics of the manufacture industry of Rio Grande do Sul, during the 1985- -2002 period. After the presentation of general data on the behavior of the gaúcha manufacture industry (its productive performance in physical and money terms), the article reviews a number of texts that analyze the conjuncture of the RS industry, stressing the main explanatory variables. Dealing with a multivariate regression model subject co-integration analysis, the article concludes that sales of the gaúcha industry to the rest of Brazil and abroad and the exchange tax were the chief determinants of the level the physical production of the industry of Rio Grande do Sul in the period under scrunity.
