A agricultura familiar no Rio Grande do Sul - um sistema agrário "colonial"

Abstract

This article intends to explain the process of agricultural occupation of Rio Grande do Sul starting from agrarian systems theory. This theory is for the purpose of analyzing the agriculture that was developed in Rio Grande do Sul starting from the colonization by no-Iberian European immigrants, because it takes to the exam of the knowledge and techniques historically accumulated that allow to differentiate the agriculture types practiced in the state. It demonstrates that it was developed a .colonial. system that kept predominant in the agriculture of the small family property for at least 150 years, and that the possible survival of this system in some areas of the North of the State can be in the origin of the largest index of rural poverty there verified.
