Impactos dinâmicos do investimento direto estrangeiro no Brasil e a relação matriz-filial: um estudo setorial comparativo baseado em evidências das indústrias alimentícia, automobilística e eletrônica

Abstract

This paper focuses on the economic and technological links between multinational industrial corporations headquarters — for a representative sample of the food, automobile and electronic sectors and their Brazilian affiliates. Based on some indicators of the recent conformation of these links, mainly on patents and trade indicators, impacts on the internal scenario for the nineties are inferred. Even if these three sectors present important differences between them, the overall picture shows that the Brazilian affiliates, despite being large ones, remain at a very low level within the hierarchy of the global firm.
