A fragilidade das empresas de base tecnológica em economias periféricas: uma interpretação baseada na experiência brasileira

Abstract

This paper aims at analysing the restraints to the creation, maturation and growth of technology-based firms (TBF) in developing countries. Although the argument is empirically based on the experience of the Brazilian economy, we do believe the analysis may apply to a much wider universe as regarding most countries in the periphery of world economy. We propose a microeconomic approach to the issue by means of evaluating the effects of market structure characteristics and competitive dynamics on the competitive strategies adopted by TBFs and, consequently on their growth potential.
