A contribuição das abordagens institucionalistas para a constituição de uma teoria econômica das instituições

Abstract

The enormous variety of things encompassed by the concept of institution implies that we need a theoretical precision about what this terms exactly means. The insertion of the term institution in its own theoretical context reveals the importance of the institutionalist approaches, despite the divergences among them. Such theoretical, conceptual and analytical differences do not deny the strength of the institutionalist thought, on the contrary, reinforces it, inasmuch as it is the diversity who makes it conceptually rich. This paper discusses some points of Veblen economic thought, the neo- -institutionalist approach, and the New Institutional Economics contributions of Coase and Williamson. It aiso discusses the relevance of the French Regulation School and the neo-schumpeterian contribution to the institutionalist thought.
