Resumo

This work exams the recent aggravation of the employment issue in Brazil. It points out, at the problem's source, the reorientation of Brazilian economy towards a smaller participation of the public sector in protection and a promotion of an indiscriminate commercial and financial opening. From this diagnosis, it is questioned whether policies directed exclusively towards labor market performance can effectively modify the situation of deep deterioration of labor conditions and relations.
